In the Year 2020

"Every 5 years, the CIA funds a detailed forecast of the future 15 years
hence. The biggest trend identified
in the latest report is the economic and
technological rise of Asia."
This is a truly fascinating document. Some of the
best and brightest put there thinking caps on a and
look in to the future. Now I've not read all of it
yet, there is a lot of quite heavy reading there, but
what have read has wet my appetite for more. There is
very little (possibly nothing) here about technical
innovation, which make sense, since this is the one
thing that can't accurately be predicted. No this
document covers the state of the world in political
and economic terms. Being a bit of a sci-fi buff and
a writer of sorts, I have come up with my own ideas
about what sorts of futures we could see. I might
even publish some of them on my site soon (what this
space). My looks in to the future are less well
informed that these, and for the most part differ
wildly from what I've read so far, but my idea's and
there's do coincide on one major fact, the rise of
Asia as a economic super power. Nice to know a very
little bit of my thinking is in line with some great
thinkers.
