Our tip London and the Star Wars Exhibition.
So this Sunday was the next in a series of almost
yearly trips for me and a bunch of friends to London.
This time it was for the Star Wars Exhibition Not to much to say about that really, some nice props, well displayed. No photography restrictions, so lots of photos (and look out for the floppy lion pictures here soon).
What I'm really here to say, is even with small and good quality cameras, digital photography is still not easy!
I took over 100 shots at the exhibition and as you'll see on the album page, 23 I thought where worth posting. This is my first real attempt with my new(-ish) Sony DSC-5500. Now last year I did take lots of photos of the amazing Dorset cost with my phone camera (before I 'downgraded' to something with a batter battery life), which I think came out well (so you may well get to see them soon), but this was my first time with a real camera.
Clearly there is a lot of skill in using the tools you have, okay yes it helps to have super duper equipment, but you need the skills. I know this my friend (Mr floppy lion him self) has a very similar Sony camera and his shots where far better than mine. But then Frederic Q Splinge (not is real name...no really) is a real renaissance man, he can turn his hand to any art form and make it work, music, drawing, photography, CGI anything.
Anyway I can see that I have a long way to go. But the thing with digital photography is that you can take 10 of the same shots and pick the best one, with out wasting time and money developing the film. Plus a 1 gig memory card means you can do this on all of your pictures and still (probably) not run out of space.
What ever Freds skills at art he's not so good on navigating the tube a simple one line trip ended up with us using 6 different lines and 10 different trains!
