I've finally got around to seeing it.
I never did get to see this at the cinema, but I did
want to. It was just another one of those things I
didn't get around to.
So what did I make of this film that was almost enterly virtual? Well, I loved the look of it. It had the look and feel of the old thirties, Saturday morning pictures, like the Laray 'Buster' Crabbe Flash Gordon and Buck Roggers or the Rocket man shows. I just love those old series (and not I'm not old old enough to have seen them first time!) The visuals where stunning. Okay so the story wasn't the greatest in terms of depth, but then the thirties series weren't either.
The whole look and sound just worked really well for me. The actors chosen to seen to fit in to film perfectly as well. I have to say that I loved the film. But then I also love the Xbox game Crimson Skies, which has a very simlar theme, setting and feel. Maybe I was just born about 40 years to late!
The one thing I would question is, that for some of the basic interior scenes was it really necessary to do these as all CGI? I know there were not may scenes like this in the film, but surely for these a normal set would have been easier?
