More adverts

A while back I pondered
on hows and whys of TV advertising and shared
some of my favorite adverts, well it seems that
it tis the season for advertising at the moment,
so here are some of my favorite of the current
adverts.
The first time I saw this first advert I wasn't
really sure I'd seen it at all!
It was late at night and I'd had a hard day, so I thought I might have imagined it at first. But then I realized my imagination wasn't that funny! The next day a quick YouTube search showed that no, it was a real advert. What am I talking about? The Irn Bru christmas advert of course! And thanks to the wonders of TubeSock, I now have a local copy of it to!
It's a wonderfully funny satire of Raymond Brigs christmas story the snowman. Which, in the UK at least is probably best known for introducing the general public to Aled Jones. I believe that he really got to hate the song 'walking in the air', so I wonder how he feels about this satire.
Whatever his thoughts, I think it is a brilliantly funny and well done advert.
My next two adverts come from a company which has been the source of some of my favorite adverts of all time. It's Sony of course.
They continue with there run of brilliant Bravia adverts, with the Play-Doh advert, which was apparently filmed largely with out the use of CGI, which has to earn it extra points! What's more it seems that Sony really understands this sort of advertising and gives the adverts there own web site! Pity it is so heavily dependent of flash, but hay-ho.
And of course these adverts, while very cool are preaching to the converted with me, since I've seen the last two for the first time on my 26 inch Bravia at home.
Sony have also currently doing the rounds their great video walkman advert, which is also very cool, a pity the product it's advertising isn't anywhere near as cool! Sorry Sony, but Apple beat you to that one again and in any case I don't think this mobile video thing is going to catch on!
And of course the great thing about sites like youtube is that, if the advert is good it will get posted there and if the company 'get' the internet they will not ask them to take it down, so the advert can live forever!
