Jumping the shark!

Could it be that the Simpsons is finally beginning to
flag after 15 long years....?
Okay this is something I didn't think I'd ever say
(well okay maybe not ever say), but the latest season
of the Simpson, which is the 15th I think, is getting
a bit tired. You could say that it's jumping the
shark.
Jumping the shark?
What am I babbling on about now? Well jumping the shark is what a TV series dose when it's out lived it''s welcome. Gone past it's sell by date if you will. The saying i believe comes from the classic 60's series happy days. Many think that the episode where the fonz, jumps the shark on his motorcycle, marks the end of the classic era of the show. After that it was kept on running because it still kept on making money for a while at least. I'm no expert on the show, so i could be wrong here.
Anyway getting back to the Simpsons. All bar one of the episodes I've seen this season, have been, to put it mildly rubbish. Now there have been boring or just plain bed episodes in the past, but I can't remember such a long run of them (6 so far).
However this weeks (I'm from the UK, by the way, so this episode maybe quite old or not yet shown where you are), was a classic! Co-Dependents day has to go down with such classics as homer's oddessy and tree house of terror (the first!). The first part with it's parody of star wars episode 1, in the form of 'cosmic wars' was just perfect! It hit the spot exactly with what was wrong with episode 1 (and maybe 2 and 3, but I'll return to this subject in another entry). But even after that we still have lots more laughs, but biggest for me being when Homer opens a can of coke in his car and it falls out on the the roof, the car is upside down in a ditch! Side splitting stuff...but well maybe you had to be there!
So dose 1 classic make up for 5 or 6 duff (duff!) episodes? Not sure, but my feel is that maybe the Simpsons is getting old and maybe it's time to put in a home and forget about it!
