Notes from the job hunt

So how is my life as an unemployed person going?
So I have been unemployed for nearly 2 weeks now. It's all very strange to me, not knowing what next week might hold.
But I am trying to find a new job, and in the course of that I've discovered one thing.
Recruitment is not personal any more. I know this should really surprise me, living as I do most on line, but I would have thought that recruitment would be more, well personal. Recruitment is after all just trading in people, well sort of.
I discovered this fact having gone to a number of different high street recruitment agencies. At all of them I was basically told to do it on line. Okay so maybe as a developer the high street agencies aren't really interested in me, but still I would have hoped to spend a little more than 5 minutes at each of the agencies I tired.
5 Minutes was the longest I stayed at a agency, that was the first one I tired and yes, it's true I got the contact of their IT specialist. Each agency I when to after that I stayed for less and less time. The final place was the worst and this was the governments own agency, the job center. Here I managed to say that I'd been made redundant as so as I said this I had a little bit of paper stuffed in to my hand was told to call that number and the guy was already on to the next person. Wow that took maybe 5 seconds! He must have a really good through put of very dis-statisfed customers at the end of the day!
Ho hum, so I'm now applying on line for 5 positions so far.
This down time, as it where is giving me plenty of time to work on other things however, applying on line can only take so much of the day! So I hope that some time soon, you will be seeing lots more stories appearing here as well as some other changes....
