I've seen it in the flesh now

Yes, I've finally had a chance to play with the new
iMac.
Today, I finally got my chance to play with the new
iMac at my local PC world.
I knew it would take PC world a while to get the new macs (apparently the bristol cribbs causeway store is one of the biggest mac sellers in the PC world chain!) but today they did, so I had to play with it.
And what did I think?
Well more or less as expected. The iMac it's self looks gorgeous. The screen is very shiny but when looking at it straight on in the store, (which has no windows any where near the macs) it wasn't to bad at all. When I was off angle a bit there was more shine and reflection evident, but it still wasn't to distracting.
However the keyboard was so good. Again just as I suspected. I wanted to like it. It is an apple product after all, but no I hated it. It's difficult to type on mainly I think because there is virtually no travel in the keys. Did you press the key or not?
The keyboard is very thin and the only good use for it I can see is in a server room, where it could slip out of the what when it's not needed (most of the time) and then when you need to reboot a server you've got a keyboard ready to do the little bits you need to do.
I could imagine even writing this little post on it! But then I still think the best keyboard ever was the classic IBM keyboard. That had real keys with real travel and real clicks when you used them. Okay was probably the nosiest keyboard every, but I do miss my old AT style IBM keyboard!
