Things used to be simple. Then I deiced to try the
GTD system and started trying different bits of
software and now...
Well I'm confused
Well I'm confused
What's this a non NaNoWriMo entry in November?
Yes. I need to do something else for a while other than my novel. And this just kind of came up.
So yes a while back I started to try and get my life organised and the GTD system, I'd tired iGTD on my mac along with taskpaper and while both of those are great little programs I was kind of falling in to the trap of just playing with the tool rather than actually using it (something I do a lot of, see this). I'd also been keeping my eye on OmniFocus, I'm a big fan of Omni's software (I've use OmniOutliner and OmniGraffle most weeks in some way or another), and so this week when the beta of this finally when public, I figured I'd give this a go. But no sooner than I'd through this than another new GTD appears on the horizon. Things from culuredcode is another beta of a GTD app. I think the timing of the release of this beta has a lot to do with the fact that OmniFoucs has also just gone beta.
And while I think competition is a good thing this is giving me a real headache. Do I try both betas. Things is a much earlier beta and is still free and unlimited where is OmniFoucs is some way down the beta line and is currently being offered with an early adaptors discount.
At the moment I've not downloaded either, since I fear if do I'll will end up registering both and using neither!
I already have at least 3 tools that I can use to this sort of thing, okay none of them are designed to do this from scratch and so wont do it all, but since I don't even use the tools I have (they are OmniOutliner, Journler and Mori by the way) is it worth it. I'm I falling in to the oh I don't do this because I don't have the right tools trap (again) or would this really make a difference?
Ah more headaches, still at least I'm a day ahead on my word count!
