Despite what's been happening to me lately, this
years script
frenzy script is finally complete.
I passed the 100 page deadline on the script actually
on the 30th of April, but the script wasn't
quite done at that point.
It is now. However as normal, the finished script is quite different from my original idea.
Regular readers of my stories will already know that the house on Allen road is in fact the house of many doors which I used in my first nanowrimo story, the route. This always was in the plan, but I wasn't planning on making it quite so obvious. I originally planed to have Becky destroy the the house. The final scene of the script was then going to have Becky in a padded cell, the implication being that she was in fact delusional all along. In fact there are still element s of this in the script, the pills that Becky takes in the early parts of the script where supposed to be some sort of treatment for this.
Also I'd planned to have Anna as a very minor role, there was no suggestion of her being a lesbian in the original idea, but as seems to be normal in my stories a large romanic sub plot developed! this probably says something about me, but quite what I'm not sure.
Anyway the second draft will have this plot line much reduced, if not cut completely, which should leave room for a much stronger ending.
Much of the script was set in Bristol and in fact Becky's flat was (is ?) my old flat. I used it so I could exactly visualize the scenes and it also happened to be opposite a graveyard. I will be taking some pictures of the bits that are set in Bristol soon.
The sub plot of people finding them selves at a cross roads in life and not knowing which way they are going, is a very personal one to me right now, this being the week I was made redundant and at this point I have no idea what I will be doing after this.
The whole script frenzy thing was much as it was last year, a very private, almost lonely thing. Unlike last years nanowrimo. I guess the reason for this is that the script frenzy is still quite new and so not so many people are taking part. There where I think there where only 4 others in the Bristol region. For the first and last weeks I was sure that I was not going to get this script done, but in the in end, despite everything that has happened, it did get done. Thinking of all the chaos that happened in my life around last years nanaowrimo, I wonder what will happen this year! It couldn't be bigger than what happened to me now...can it?
