Wow, was all I could say when I came across this
site. Now I just want them to actually make
the film. Sadly I fear this one book that will
never be made in to a flim.
I have to say it, right here and now that I'm a big
fan of Greg Bears epic
book Eon. In fact I would
say it is the best sci-fi novel I've ever read.
And I must have read it 8 or 9 times now,
probably once a year since I discovered it.
So when I found this site, I got very, very excited. I'd always thought that Eon would make a truly epic film, but that it was one of those books that would just never be made in to a film. Then I realised, it just a challenge, there was no Eon film in the works.
With Eon it's not the practical aspect that makes it un-filmable. With CGI, I don't think any thing is un-filmable now, no it's the plot. I don't think the plot with all of it's complexities and subtleness would be able to be slimed down and still keep any semblance of it's greatness. And since there is no way Holywood would make such a complex film, it would have to be cut down.
But now, I'm not so sure, watching these trailers makes me think that maybe the whole thing could be filmed. It might just work.
Mind you since I know the book so well all of the scenes that where in the trailers I knew where there where in the story and exactly what I was seeing.
But maybe, just maybe it could be filmed. That would be...fantastic.
All it needs I some one who loves the story and...Oh like me maybe.
Maybe it's time to re-read it again and start work on the screen play.,,,
