In what is fast becoming a tradition, he's my
thoughts on the latest Doctor Who story.
I liked it, a lot!
Well that was certainly short and sweet! It was a lot better than last weeks (which I still liked), almost up there with the first episode.
We see the welcome return of some classic Doctor Who elements. Firstly we have the assistant getting here self in the to trouble. Thankfully this wasn't taken to the point it has been in the past where the assistants main job was to get in to trouble and then be rescued by the Doctor! No Rose is definitely not that kind of assistant!
Secondly we see the return of the house under siege type of setting, where we have some sort of nastiness been released from somewhere though an isolated old house. We seen this lots of times before (Horror of fang rock, Pyramids of Mars, Image of the Fendal etc.) and I personally love this sort of gothic setting. The only thing is that again maybe the plot moved a bit to fast and we could have had more time to savor the setting. Having said this one of my all time favorite classic episodes has this sort of setting and an even more breakneck pace (Ghost light in case you haven't guessed yet!)
And once again we have a mention of a war. This time it's called the time war and seems to have had some cataclysmic effects on the universe. Thats three wars mentioned in three episodes, so I will make a prediction here. All the wars are linked to the war which killed of the time lords and that the Doctor played a big part in the starting, ending or probably both of the war. My hope is that all of this will be resolved in the two parter at the end of the series (which in the Radio Times guide I have is down as TBA!)
