The highs and lows of cabling my flat for all of my
toys
Life used to be simple. Most electrical things had 1
cable, the mains cable. Ah those where the days....
Yes those where the days when we had no videos, no DVD's, no internet and only 3 TV channels...
Yes those where truly the dark ages!
Okay so that's going a bit far maybe, but this week I've been playing with lots of cables and some times those simple days have appealed to me.
After having had my flat wired with cat 5, I finally got to moving my server, hub and wireless access point in to the cupboard. Nice a simple you might think, but no I managed to mess it up (so thats a low then). However my friends arrive Tuesday night, and all the stuff goes in to the cupboard and actually works (thats a high then). After much discussion about how to connect my new toy, a DVD recorder, in to my already crowed A/V system, I realse I mucked that up to (another low). However good news on the horizon I only need on more scart cable to connect it up fully an correctly, One of my friends just happens to have such an lead to hand (another high). I connect it up tonight and...
...It doesn't work properly (one more low). Oh hum. The good news is that I suspect it's just a config problem with the DVD recorder, so a quick fix is likely!
