British Eccentrics

Ex-MI5 agent Shayler claims to be chav messiah: "

Eccentric ex-spook checks in from fruitcakeville

Well-known former MI5 officer and 9/11 conspiracy theorist David Shayler has taken a further step along the path to fruitcakeville, suggesting to a TV news interviewer that he is the Messiah.…"

(Via The Register.)
Mmmm, actually I'm not sure about the eccentric, bit here, I suspect David Shayler has jumped over that bit and gone to completely mad!
Still it's not like we don't have a history of this sort of thing here in the UK. I'm think here of course of the former goalkeeper, BBC sports presenter and son of god, David Icke.
It seems the David Shayler might be following the same sort of route as his name shake. Start off with a little conspiracy theories, throw in some religious delusions of grandeur and then ride the tidal wave of publicity to your next best selling book!
Okay maybe I'm just jealous because they both have published books and I don't. Maybe I should try there way of doing it! After all again there is a history of truly great sci-fi writers crossing the line between genius and madness (here I'm thinking Philp K Dick and not Ron L Hubbard, I did after all say great sci-fi writers!) Any way back to my point.
So the question is both of these Davids actually believe what they are saying or is it all, as I've speculated, a big publicity ploy?
If they do truly believe then they are certainly mad, but just because they are mad doesn't mean that they are not right! Okay, yes thinking that way only leads to madness it's self.
But I know one way to settle it once and for all. Get the two of them in the ring and settle it with a good old miracle smackdown!
Now I just being silly, but this a very silly story and a very silly post!
Normal service will be resumed as soon as we know what is normal anyway :}
