An old friend returns to my desktop

With this years NaNoWriMo just around the corner I return to an old friend to help me through the 30 days of madness.
With only 6 days to go till NaNoWriMo, I probably less well prepared than I was last year. I've only got the very vaguest idea of the plot, no idea what the end of the story will be and panic is beginning to set in! I do have a very cool title, literally, The Ice Fortress, which is more than I did last year. I still...
But I digress, that is not what this post is about, I will be filling you in with the basic idea of my plot in another post (probably tomorrow), but this post is about something different.
Last year, I used Ulysses to write my 50000 words, it was fantastic for the job. Full screen mode gave me very little to distract me from the writing (not that there is much to distract you in the normal mode of Ulysses. I'd through I'd found the home for all of my writing, but then along came Scrivener. Now this app while having the same user (the author) and approach in mind (the words come first), has a totally different philosophy. There are lots more twiddle bits, lots more for me to fiddle with! Great. It has a full screen mode to and I've used ever since I registered it (which was pretty much as soon as it was available).
It too is great and I've finished a few small projects with it. In fact I've not touched Ulysses since then (ah the sad life of an abandoned apps).
But recently I returned to Ulysses, I hadn't intended to, but I wanted to work on one of the many old, unfinished projects that litter by documents directory and it had been done in Ulysses. Yes it could have exported it easily or even copied and pasted it, but I was too lazy to do that, so I just worked on it in Ulysses and, well maybe I just getting nostalgic for last year, or maybe the clean user interface is so much less distracting for me, but I fell in love with the app again. And this year it will be Ulysses, not Scrivener that helps me to my 50000 words.
So will this last, probably not. As I said many times before, I collect software for the mac and as such I've normally got 2 or 3 apps which do that same basic job laying around and I switch between them when the whim takes me, so I will come back to Scrivener someday, but for the moment, once again it's Ulysses for me!
