CO2 cost of Google searches
12/01/09 09:07
Making two internet searches through Google produces
about the same amount of carbon dioxide as boiling a
kettle, claims
a story in the Telegraph.
Mmm...Interesting story but as normal, it seems, with a story about technology they miss a vital point. Read More...

Rejected!
22/11/08 15:39
A few weeks ago The Unoffical Apple Weblog
(http://www.tuaw.com/), where looking for new
bloggers and being the Mac fanatic that I am I had to
apply for it.
Yesterday I got rejected.
Since I’m also looking for a new day job at the moment, it’s a feeling I should be getting used to, but it still kind of hurts.
No I’m kidding actually. It is a feeling I’ve got used to. Read More...

Botnets and what to do with them
01/06/08 09:56
Botnets are everywhere nowdays and they are a big
threat to the internet and hence to just about
everything else as well. So far not a lot has been
done about this. Is this just becasue of apathy or is
it that nothing can be done? Read

more java vs javascript
14/05/07 20:57
Sun Debuts JavaFX As Alternative To
AJAX: "r7 writes 'Internetnews is
reporting on Sun's introduction of JavaFX at
JavaOne today. Looks like a combination Applet,
Flash, Javascript, and AJAX with a friendly
programming interface. Does this really spell the
end of AJAX? I sincerely hope so. Nothing built on
Javascript will ever achieve the security,
cross-platform reliability, and programmatic
friendliness that Web 2.0 needs. Proprietary
solutions and vendor lock-in are also dead ends.
JavaFX has the potential to satisfy this
opportunity even better than did Java over a
decade ago. Along with AJAX, let's hope JavaFX
also puts paid to Microsoft's viral Active-X and
JScript, and, more importantly, that it really is
a web scripting language that developers can
grok.'

The end of the road for google apps?
05/05/07 15:20
The End of .Mac and Google Apps?: "mattnyc99
writes 'In his weekly tech column for Popular
Mechanics, Glenn Derene predicts that everyone will
have a home server to network their house within 10
years—rendering Apple's .Mac accounts and Google's
productivity software useless. As prices for products
like HP's MediaSmart Server drop and as processing
power becomes more pervasive, Derene says, 'you'll
ultimately need a centralized server—that
high-powered traffic cop—to coordinate the non-stop
exchange of information between your new multitude of
devices.''Read
